Don Orth, currently director of technology at Hillbrook School in Los Gatos California, received his BA from Tufts University and EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has been working in public and private schools, both in the US and Europe, for over a decade in teaching and administrative roles. Currently he is working with Hillbrook and other Bay Area schools and organizations to bring innovation into education, not simply in the form of technology, but by way of understanding student needs, learning styles, and the changing work and cutural landscape. Hillbrook School was one of the first schools in the nation to initiate a 1:1 take-home iPad program (August 2010)--a program that has become an essential part of their middle school curriculum. Now Hillbrook runs a 1:1 iPad prgram in grades 5-8. This year, Don Orth is coordinating the Hillbrook iLab project to study how a dynamic, agile learning environment effects learning in this new age of mobility. |
