EDITOR'S NOTE
Greeting the New Decade
by Brandi Scardilli
As a kid in the 1990s and early 2000s, I watched ABC’s TGIF lineup of family sitcoms every week. When it ended at 10 p.m., 20/20 with Barbara Walters came on, and I was usually allowed to stay up if the topics weren’t too intense. Because I can’t help but relate everything to pop culture, I’m thinking about those happy Friday nights a lot as the calendar version of 2020 approaches.
The new decade is bringing with it an exciting change: EContent magazine is now part of Information Today as its own special section starting on page 32. Featuring topics info pros need to know about (this issue, data visualization tools, WCM projects, content marketing plans, and more), the section will serve as your window into the world of econtent. You’ll hear from EContent regulars such as Amy Affelt, Bruno Herrmann, Marianne Kay, Nancy Davis Kho, and Linda Pophal.
Anthony Aycock explores the world of YouTube infotainment (p. 15), and Dave Shumaker is back with another interview, this time with Thomson Reuters’ Brian Peccarelli, who shares his company’s customer-focused strategies (p. 12). In Legal Issues, George Pike talks about the marijuana industry (p. 26), and in Database Review, Mick O’Leary announces the winner of the 2019 BUDDIE award for Best Unknown Database (p. 28).
Happy New Year! |
