Thomas Wilson is the president of Unisphere Research which is Information Today, Incorporated's market research division. Unisphere has completed nearly 100 web-based market studies in various areas of information technology, customer relationship management, education and in the library marketplace. Last year, Unisphere produced the LRG North American Benchmark Study of Library Spending, 2011. This ground-breaking study resulted in a forty-five page final report available to all participating librarians at no cost. Covering technology trends, spending and budget trends, as well as library operating practices, the 2011 LRG Benchmark Study laid the groundwork for an ongoing longitudinal approach to measuring practices and changes in the library market. The large number of participating libraries from all major library sectors (public, academic and special/government) resulted in LRG's ability to refine its findings and deliver them on a sector-by-sector basis as well, which was further narrowed down to reporting on the findings by library-population-served within each library sector. Three sector reports at this level of granularity were made available for purchase in 2011, and will be made available once again in 2012 once the 2012 LRG Benchmark Study is made available.
