Sheila Weir, Applied Technology Officer, U.S. Department of State
Sheila Weir is a U.S. Foreign Service Information Resources Officer (IRO). Having worked in Europe and Africa, she is now serving in Washington, D.C. as Applied Technology IRO, working to expand global access to U.S. information resources. Prior to joining the U.S. Foreign Service in March, 2006 Sheila worked in Seattle, Washington at an International Public Health NGO, PATH (www.path.org). At PATH, she worked as a reference librarian on international public health issues by providing customized extensive biomedical, business, and pharmaceutical research and served as an in-house technology and database trainer. After graduating with an MLIS from University of British Columbia in 1998, she worked at King County Hazardous Waste Library as a specialized librarian in hazardous waste information and outreach. She has also worked with the Gates Foundation's US Library program as a Public Computer Access trainer.
