In his academic career John was the first web editor of Ariadne (www.ariadne.ac.uk), worked for Lorcan Dempsey at UKOLN (www.ukoln.ac.uk) and was been a researcher and manager of several digital library projects in the UK Higher Education sector. This decade, John is self-employed (www.silversprite.com), undertaking research and consultancy in the areas of digital library, digital gaming and online economics. He has worked with several national education development agencies looking at the use of digital games in schools, colleges, universities and public and academic libraries. He's written a wide array of articles on this subject, and been a conference speaker on the relevance of digital games to libraries and librarians in 8 countries to date. He is currently writing a book on the use of Digital Games within the Library and Information Science sectors. Despite living on a remote island (population: 126) off the west coast of Scotland, he wishes he could winter in California every year. |
