It's the little things: useful utilities
by Dave Rensberger

TOOLS OF THE TRADE column presents a buyers' guide to useful utility programs. Relates that most complaints about applications seem to be about logic, and that anyone who wants to sell their latest and greatest personal computing tool should be prepared to allow one to try it on for size. With that in mind, presents some useful utility programs that offer trial versions, including: SurfSecret 2.2 ($29.95) from Advercast, a utility that permits users to keep their Web surfing history private; Darn! Passwords! ($14.95) from Emmasoft, which creates an individual "safe" for all of the user's passwords; Find It 3.02 ($29.95) from Skylark Utilities, a program that can find a file based on more than just file names and types; and Amigo! 5.0 ($39.50) from A & J Systems, a free-form database that can organize oddball bits of data that need convenient access to make them useful.
