Successful First Year for Enterprise Search Summit

June 2, 2004, Medford, New Jersey—On May 11–12, 2004, IT professionals, information managers, and leaders of the enterprise search industry met at Enterprise Search Summit 2004 for an intense two days of briefings about how to select and implement site search solutions, and to share ideas with colleagues. Organized by Information Today, Inc., Enterprise Search Summit saw a successful first year with more than 300 in attendance.

Over the course of two days of conference sessions, industry experts covered the building blocks of “search," including selection and deployment strategies, taxonomy, metadata, and information architecture. The following are just a few of the instructors at the show: Joseph Busch of Taxonomy Strategies, Avi Rappoport of Search Tools Consulting, and Martin White of Intranet Focus, Ltd. Industry analysts Sue Feldman from IDC and Eric Woods from Ovum also shared their perspectives of the industry.

The Enterprise Search Showcase offered attendees a unique chance to check out how enterprise search solutions work by showing demos of leading search solutions, while the Enterprise Search Clinics, lead by technical experts from major search software companies, provided in-depth tutorials and product demos for the conference audience.

Enterprise Search Summit had a number of prestigious sponsors that helped to make the conference a success. Premium sponsors were Convera, Endeca, Fast Search, Google, Inxight, Northern Light, Open Text, and Verity. Associate sponsors were Atomz, ClearForest, ConceptSearching, Copernic, EasyAsk, Entopia, Entrieva, Factiva, iPhrase, ISYS, Mondosoft, Muse Global, SER, and Triplehop.
