Leaders
of Content Industry Gather for Latest Trends and Networking
Opportunities at Buying & Selling eContent 2004
May
17, 2004, Medford, New Jersey—From April 25–27,
2004, content industry executives,
major enterprise buyers, and
content solutions providers
gathered at the 5th annual
Buying & Selling eContent
conference at the Camelback
Inn Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Hosted by Information Today,
Inc., this executive-level
conference grows in popularity
every year and is recognized
as a must-attend event for
leaders within the content
industry.
Over the course of 3 days,
nearly 200 attendees gathered
to discuss and evaluate the
core challenges and issues
central to their industry.
Attendees had the opportunity
to hear from more than 25 speakers
who spoke on a variety of topics
relating to the industry. A
recurring theme throughout
the conference was the issue
of business partnerships and
relationships. This theme was
echoed in the session on buy-sell
partnerships by representatives
from March Inc, OneSource Merrill
Lynch, LexisNexis, and Alacra,
as well as by panelists during
the “Evolving Models
for Licensing and Rights Managemet” and “The
Convergence of Software and
Content” sessions.
Also highlighting the conference
were the three keynotes who
addressed attendees over the
course of the three days. Louis
Borders of Borders Books and
KeepMedia opened the conference,
talking about his latest venture
and the “going slowly” approach
in which the venture is built
slowly as opposed to overnight.
Next to speak was Anthea Stratigos
of Outsell, Inc., who discussed
how people often identify their
business by the container (the
book business, the magazine
business, etc.) instead of
by the content. On the last
day of the conference, Allen
Weiner of GartnerG2 spoke on
the changing world of content
and the power shifts of the
future that may lead to new,
large media companies being
in control.
Attendees also took advantage
of the multiple opportunities
available throughout the course
of the conference to connect
with contacts and build business
relationships in a relaxing
resort atmosphere. The conference
kicked off with a “best
ball” golf tournament
and a Sunset Welcome Reception;
the following 2 days were filled
with workshops, networking
lunches, and roundtable discussions
