than 2,400 librarians and information
professionals gathered in Washington,
D.C. from March 10th through
the 12th for the Computers
in Libraries 2004 conference
and exhibition.
Sponsored and organized by
Information Today, Inc. (ITI),
Computers in Libraries again
brought together professionals
from all over the country and
the world to learn about and
discuss the future of technology
in libraries. Computers in
Libraries is the most comprehensive
conference and exhibition on
all aspects of library and
information delivery technology.
The 19th annual conference
featured more than 100 dynamic
speakers over four simultaneous
tracks, plus three dynamic
keynotes as well as pre- and
post-conference workshops and
an entertaining and informative
evening program. Of special
interest was the Internet@Schools
East conference, which consisted
of four half-day program
tracks and 20 knowledgeable
speakers. From the opening
keynote on blogging in
the classroom to the endnote
on teaching with computers
and curriculum integration
strategies, Internet@Schools
East challenged, inspired,
and informed school library
media specialists and technology
center managers.
The exhibit hall at Computers
in Libraries showcased more
than 50 booths, offering visitors
a choice of products covering
all aspects of library technology,
including Web-based products
and services, integrated library
and information systems, online
services, document delivery
services, Internet software
tools, content suppliers, search
