Today, Inc. Acquires The CyberSkeptic’s Guide to Internet Research Newsletter
from BiblioData, Inc.
August 26, 2002, Medford, NJ — Information Today, Inc. (ITI) announces the acquisition of The CyberSkeptic’s Guide to Internet Research, a monthly newsletter formerly published by BiblioData, Inc. Beginning with the November issue, Sheri Lanza will assume the position of editor of The CyberSkeptic’s Guide from Ruth Orenstein, President of BiblioData Inc. The CyberSkeptic’s Guide to Internet Research, a monthly subscription newsletter in print explores and evaluates free Web sites and search strategies to help subscribers use the Internet to stay up-to-date on resources. Going into its eighth year of publication, The CyberSkeptic’s Guide provides concise, practical information and expresses strong opinions on the quality of Internet information sources. The newsletter is geared toward business, news, technical, medical, legal, and international research as well as market research and competitive intelligence. The newsletter currently has more than 1,000 subscribers. According to Ruth Orenstein, “the Internet has gone through amazing changes in the seven years we have published CyberSkeptic. In the beginning, the Internet was competing against paid databases, and we were skeptical that anything of value was to be had for free. But, there were wonderful resources to report on, and these increased over the years. We are delighted that Information Today, Inc. has become the new owner of CyberSkeptic, since we know that they will pay careful attention to maintaining the usefulness and quality of the newsletter.” The CyberSkeptic’s Guide will round out the ITI family of products, which include many other information-based publications. Tom Hogan, Sr., CEO of Information Today, Inc., remarked that "we have admired the solid research and practical advice that Ruth's newsletter has been dispensing for many years. We fully expect Sheri to build on that foundation and provide an even richer basket of information that can be put immediately to use by Internet researchers."
