National Online Meeting 2000 Marks 21st Year as a Premier Information Industry Event

Medford, NJ, June 23, 2000 — The largest electronic information conference and exhibition in North America, the National Online Meeting & IOLS 2000, took place May 16-18, 2000, at the New York Hilton in New York City.

Sponsored and organized by Information Today, Inc. (ITI), the National Online Meeting & IOLS 2000 again brought together a stimulating blend of information industry innovators and practitioners from around the world. With over 5,200 in total attendance, the 21st annual conference featured more than 100 dynamic speakers in three simultaneous tracks, pre- and post-conference workshops, plenary sessions, keynote speeches, an Electronic Publishing seminar, and the 2-day Integrated Online Library Systems (IOLS) “conference within a conference.”

The meeting was highlighted by keynotes by David Mirchin, SilverPlatter, Ben Shneiderman, University of Maryland, and Scott Plantz, eMedicine.com. The special breakfast presentation by Ron Dunn, president of Thomas Learning, was again a success, and this year’s Electronic Publishing seminar boasted keynote Steven Brill, founder of Court TV, Brill’s Content, and the soon-to-launch Contentville.com.

The exhibit hall at the National Online Meeting & IOLS 2000 showcased over 100 companies displaying the newest online, Internet, and CD-ROM products, systems, and services. As IFI Plenum, ISI, Dialog, and Gale Group (formerly IAC) returned to the exhibit hall for the 21st year, the National Online Meeting also featured first-time exhibitor’s netLibrary, NextPage, SageMaker, and Semio Corp.
