EDITOR'S NOTE
You Good?
by Brandi Scardilli
There are some things that are just as good as we expect them to be, such as cracking open a brand-new book, sliding into clean sheets at bedtime, and the crisp feel in the air when the weather changes from summer to fall. And then there are the things that are too good to be true, such as fad diets, furniture that lives up to its “easy to assemble” promise, becoming a millionaire by investing in NFTs, and, it turns out, letting library patrons borrow access to commercial streaming services. On page 18, Jess Hilburn digs into what is expected of libraries providing content in a digital world—and why giving their patrons their Netflix password creates more problems than it solves.
Here’s one more good thing: prioritizing your mental health. On page 14, Anthony Aycock talks to a librarian-turned-mindfulness-instructor who shares how librarians can combat stress and anxiety. And on page 16, Abby Phillips looks at the state of mental health issues in librarianship.
