Endymion Systems, Inc., an information technology consulting company
with regional offices throughout the U.S., has announced that it has expanded
its Web-based enterprise content management service offerings by acquiring
ZNOW, Inc., a developer of knowledge management software for e-business
applications.
ZKN 1.0 (ZNOW Knowledge Navigator) is a search engine and taxonomy software
for use in enterprise information portals, customer service, training,
knowledge mining, and technical support applications. A third-generation
knowledge management product, ZKN imports and classifies over 200 standard
office documents automatically, without the need for extensive human effort
and the generation of taxonomies. According to the announcement, the ZNOW
Content Search tool provides an intuitive, easy means for navigating and
locating information in large text databases and is ideal for desktop use
by individuals.
The first customer shipments of ZKN commenced in October 2001.
"ZNOW has an innovative and rewarding approach to helping people find
information electronically," said Avi Rappoport, analyst and consultant
at SearchTools.com. "From displaying search results in context, through
integration with existing taxonomies to extracting relevant sections of
very large documents, ZNOW is always focused on the end-user needs. It
reminds me of Google in its single-minded attention to providing relevant
information."
"ZNOW is a critical component technology in our planned architecture
for a complete business-process-integration solution for the enterprise,"
said Steve King, Endymion's president and CEO. "Combined with leading content
management solutions from our business partners and our extensive experience
in integrating structured data from back-office ERP systems, we believe
we have an enterprise application integration advantage for the mid-market
customer struggling to find actionable information in a format suitable
for delivery to its knowledge workers."
Founded in 1991, Endymion is a single-source supplier for strategic,
