iCopyright has announced the release of its new iCopyright Publisher
Central product and that it has partnered with Click Industries to make
the Click&Copyright Registration Service available through iCopyright.com.
iCopyright Publisher Central
iCopyright Publisher Central is a suite of Web-based tools and services
that enables publishers to implement the Instant Clearance Service themselves,
as well as manage their online licensing and reprints business.
"[With] the release of iCopyright PublisherCentral, we give publishers
of all sizes the tools they need to make the most of their content-licensing
business with online convenience," said Mike O'Donnell, iCopyright's CEO.
"They can do it all from their Web browser: sign up for the Instant Clearance
Service, implement it on their Web site, set prices and policies, track
activity, and then make business decisions based upon that activity to
optimize revenues."
According to the announcement, the Instant Clearance Service is the
first automated content-licensing system for online publishers. Using the
iCopyright Publisher Central extranet site, publishers can activate the
Instant Clearance Service and place the icon on their Web sites. Readers
who click on the iCopyright icon can then license, purchase, and receive
that content instantly, in the format they want. Licensed content includes
the publishers' masthead, as well as a tracking link that readers can click
on to purchase more licenses.
Through the Instant Clearance Service, publishers can set prices, choose
the kinds of licenses they'd like to offer, pick from a number of pre-designed
style sheets for certain clearances, and upload their logos online through
the extranet site. Once the Instant Clearance Service has gone live on
their sites, they can return to iCopyright Publisher Central to add new
publications or articles, upload new logos, grant access to the service
to others on their publishing team, and change prices and products according
to market demand.
iCopyright Publisher Central offers publishers Usage Summary Reports
that show which articles are selling through the Instant Clearance Service
and that provide clickthrough rates on the iCopyright icon. Publishers
can also view Clearance Reports that show who is clearing their content.
All reports can be downloaded in tab-delimited format.
Click&Copyright
By using the Click&Copyright Registration Service, writers can
copyright their work at http://www.icopyright.com
and receive a discount for registering with iCopyright to sell their works
through the Instant Clearance Service.
"By offering this service, we provide content creators with an end-to-end
solution," said O'Donnell. "For a nominal fee, they can register their
works with the U.S. Copyright Office via the Internet and sell their works
to the world through the Instant Clearance Service."
"We are pleased to partner with iCopyright, the recognized leader in
automated content licensing," said Mark Levine, Click Industries' CEO.
"U.S. copyright protection is still the best way for creators to protect
their work. For online content creators, it's more important now than ever
before. Together, Click Industries and iCopyright give online creators
the tools to protect, promote, and sell their works online."
According to the announcement, the Click&Copyright Registration
Service provides a more efficient way to file with the U.S. Copyright Office,
a process that often requires an attorney. Content creators fill out an
online form and Click&Copyright then processes the application. Most
applications cost $99. Content owners who sign up for the Click&Copyright
service through iCopyright also receive a discount code good for activating
the Instant Clearance Service for free.
Writers can sell their works through the Instant Clearance Service by
putting the iCopyright icon on their pages. When readers click on the icon,
they can license, purchase, and receive content instantly in bulk-formatted
e-mail, Adobe PDFs, or Web reprint formats.
