EDITOR'S NOTE
Now and Then
by Brandi Scardilli
We spend a lot of time talking about the internet of today. For example, in this issue, Barbie Keiser shares a site that helps people distinguish between fake news and the real deal (page 4), Kenneth Evans discusses the current state of online language-learning tools (page 14), and David King explores sports content on Facebook (page 32). So for our lead feature, Terry Ballard takes a look back at the early days of computer-to-computer communication as he celebrates the 50th anniversary of ARPANET on page 10. Groovy!
Anthony Aycock offers resources and tips that all types of library workers can use to ensure the comfort and safety of their patrons in “A Librarian’s Guide to Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness” on page 12. It’s a tough but necessary read.
