Dialog Corp. has announced that its recently launched Dialog NewsRoom database
is now available as a stand-alone Web-based service. Dialog NewsRoom
remains accessible as a file on the Dialog-branded platform of
online services (file number 990), and as files on Dialog DataStar
(file: NEWS) and Dialog Profound (file: NewsLine).
Dialog NewsRoom provides more than 7,000 news sources for electronic
searching and retrieval. Additionally, the Dialog NewsRoom stand-alone
product offers about 1,500 of those sources with a 5-year archive.
Among the sources recently added are Kauppalehti, a leading
Finnish business and financial newspaper; HedgeWorld DailyNews,
a New York-based online news service that addresses the global
hedge fund and alternative investment industries; and Transitions
Online, a leading Internet magazine that covers Eastern and Central
Europe, the Balkans, and the countries of the former Soviet Union.
Other sources added to Dialog NewsRoom are PRIMEDIA Business
Magazines (reporting on 20 industry sectors), the Associated Press
(including its Alerts and State Wires services), American Health
Consultants (including its 80 newsletters that cover a broad spectrum
of healthcare topics), and the Federal Document Clearing House
(featuring comprehensive political and government news from the
U.S.).
Dialog NewsRoom is a unified database of news sources that can
be searched simultaneously using a single search command. Content
includes broadcast transcripts, newspapers, periodicals, news
wires, and trade and scholarly journals. These sources are provided
in English and seven other languages and are drawn from nearly
80 countries.
Dialog NewsRoom offers enterprisewide subscriptions of a fixed
monthly fee for unlimited use. This fee is based on the number
of users who access the database within an organization. Users
can also opt to pay a $2.95 per-document retrieval charge.
