C. Berger Group, Inc. (CBG), a library personnel and information management
services firm, announced that it has become a business partner with Inmagic,
Inc., a text-management software producer based in Woburn, Massachusetts.
According to the announcement, CBG is authorized to promote, market, and
resell various specialized products that are used in libraries and other
information management operations to create indexes, catalogs, and finding
aides on desktops, networks, and Internet/intranet platforms.
"Supplying Inmagic software was a natural progression for CBG," said
Carol A. Berger, C. Berger Group president. "We have recommended it to
clients many times in the past and used it ourselves to develop databases
for traditional book collections as well as multimedia materials and corporate
documents."
Clients can also engage CBG consultants to install and customize Inmagic
products and train users on the applications that were personally tailored
for them. CBG support staff is available to create indexes and catalogs
and maintain systems after they are functional.
Some of the Inmagic lines that CBG will be handling include the following:
-
DB/TextWorks, a special combination of database and text-retrieval software
-
DB/Text for Libraries, an all-in-one library application with the flexibility
of DB/TextWorks
-
DB/Text WebPublisher, a read-only solution that takes existing DB/Text
information and publishes it on intranets and the Web
-
DB/Text Interactive WebPublisher, which adds editing and immediate database-update
capability to these Web scenarios
-
DB/Text Intranet Spider, which builds and maintains databases of Web site
information from internal networks and external sources
Utilities for text importing and conversion are available. According to
the announcement, litigation and records-management databases are other
popular applications of the DB/Text product set.
