MicroPatent Unveils Aureka 9.0
MicroPatent announced the release of Aureka 9.0, the latest version
of its patent-analysis platform. Aureka now features full-text patent data
and upgraded theme maps. In addition, the new version offers an improved user
interface that gives customers access to MicroPatent's PatSearch Full Text.
Customers can now search any or all of the PatSearch Full Text databases
simultaneously, accessing and exporting new fields of information not previously
available in Aureka, such as Agent, Designated States, Patents Cited, and Priority
Data. They can also utilize advanced search techniques using Boolean operators,
combine queries to expand or narrow their search scope, and search documents
using French and German text.
With Aureka 9.0, users can also create theme maps with non-patent data. In
addition, they can construct maps in foreign languages, such as French and
German, if the document lists are homogeneous. According to the announcement,
these improvements extend the functionality of Aureka's mapping tool and improve
the analytical comparisons that users can make.

Nstein Introduces Nserver Suite 3.0
Nstein Technologies, Inc. announced the release of Nserver Suite 3.0.
This content management platform now includes expanded metadata-generation
capabilities and Nretriever, a newly launched guided navigation module.
The following metadata-generation products within the Nserver Suite have
been enhanced:
Nconcept Extractor 3.0 now includes upgraded extraction and
ranking algorithms for both simple and complex searches.
Ncategorizer 3.0 offers improved categorization algorithms
as well as a new rule-based layer that allows content managers to define
domain-specific indexing and business rules.
Nfinder 3.0 now extracts (out of the box and in several languages)
two new entity types: Dates & Times and Currencies.
The Nlikethis search-enhancement product has improved accuracy
and processing speed.
The Nretriever navigation and retrieval tool uses Nstein's LDNA technology
to gather and cluster results into logical, hierarchically displayed groups,
allowing users to zero in on what they're looking for.

Snapshots International Rolls Out Web Delivery Options
Snapshots International, Ltd. announced that it has enhanced its presentation
and delivery options.
The company has redesigned its Snapshots reports to give clients all the
information they need for purchasing decisions.A new Web site will enable clients
to view abstracts and tables of contents for all new reports before purchasing,
while the search facility has been further enhanced to enable filtering by
industry codes.
In addition, the new reports now include category definitions and more market-specific
data. The Western European Overviews now cover more than 10 countries and provide
lists of major players.

Factiva Launches Product Enhancements, Services
Factiva announced the addition of enhanced features to its Factiva Developer's
Kit API. The company also announced a content agreement with Frankfurter
Allgemeine Zeitung and new subscription options for The Wall Street
Journal Online.
Factiva Developer's Kit
According to the announcement, the enhancements to Factiva Developer's Kit
enable users to take advantage of automated programming tools to develop and
deploy new content applications more quickly and cost-effectively. This new
release also includes transactions that provide users with access to additional
content and functionality in the Factiva platform.
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
Factiva customers will now have access to the daily and Sunday editions of Frankfurter
Allgemeine Zeitung. The paper has more than 350 editors and a large worldwide
network of correspondents who provide up-to-date exclusive content.
WSJ.com Subscriptions
Factiva's corporate customers can now subscribe to The Wall Street Journal
Online through the following subscription options:
A site-license subscription to the Online Journal, with direct
access from the Factiva.com navigation bar

Dialog Announces New Content Additions
Dialog announced that it has added World News Connection (WNC), the
U.S. government's news-monitoring service, to its information resources. The
company also announced the addition of new content channels to DialogPRO and
the integration of content from nearly 850 publications to its InSite service.
World News Connection
WNC offers electronic searching of translated and English-language news and
information that's compiled daily by the U.S. government's Foreign Broadcast
Information Service and published by the U.S. Department of Commerce's National
Technical Information Service. According to the announcement, Dialog is the
only commercial vendor to offer access to the full WNC file.
DialogPRO
The new content channels added to DialogPRO are Energy, Engineering, Patent,
and Trademark. Dialog packages the information it gathers from around the world
to create the individual DialogPRO content channels. Each is designed to best
match the unique information needs of individual DialogPRO subscribers.
InSite
The new content added to InSite includes publications focused on topics such
as health, the pharmaceutical industry, technology, law, advertising, defense,
economics, and general business issues. They represent a cross-section of business
research and reporting published worldwide, with sources drawn from Africa,
Asia, Europe, and North America.

Context Launches Irish Reports and Digests
Context, Ltd. announced that it has added the Electronic Irish Reports
and Digests case law series to its Justis.com online legal research service.
Electronic Irish Reports and Digests, also available as a Justis CD-ROM,
covers more than 80 years of Irish case reports.
The Irish Reports contains the full text of published cases dating to 1919.
According to the announcement, it is the most comprehensive series of reports
covering important decisions from the superior courts of Ireland. The reports
are compiled by practicing barristers and are cited in Irish courts and tribunals.
The Irish Digests provides a summary, including catchwords and headnotes,
of each case reported in the Irish Reports, Northern Ireland Reports, Irish
Law Reports Monthly, Irish Law Times Reports, Irish Jurist Reports,
and Irish Law Journal.

FIZ Karlsruhe Launches TEMA Database on STN
FIZ Karlsruhe announced that it has added the TEMA bibliographic database to
STN International. TEMA covers a range of German and international literature
in the areas of technology and management, including mechanical engineering
and plant construction, electrical engineering and electronics, information
technology, materials, textile technology, medical technology, management,
and operational organization.
Produced by FIZ Technik, the bilingual TEMA database currently contains more
than 1.4 million citations dating to 1990 and increases by about 100,000 records
per year. Records comprise bibliographic data, indexing, and an abstract as
well as Internet addresses of publishers and full texts, if available.

ProQuest Completes Archive, Expands Database
ProQuest Information and Learning announced that it has completed the full-page-image Washington
Postarchive in its ProQuest Historical Newspapers project. The
company also announced that it has added PQRA: South East Asia to its ProQuest
Reference Asia database.
The Washington Post
The Washington Post archive covers a 110-year period from 1877 to
1987. ProQuest will annually add a year of coverage. The database includes
Adobe PDF files of each page from every issue during those 110 years. More
than 2.6 million pages of articles comprise the newly digitized archive.
PQRA: South East Asia
PQRA: South East Asia delivers authoritative, comprehensive, and timely geopolitical,
economic, social, and business reference information about 10 Southeast Asian
nations. Included are news sources, reference materials, statistics, directory
content, official policy material, and analytical sources for Brunei, Cambodia,
Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and
Vietnam.

Ovid Announces Three New Resources
Ovid announced the release of three new offerings: a centralized administrative
interface, support for RefWorks, and two new training resources.
Centralized Interface
Information professionals now have centralized, integrated access to all
Ovid applications through one interface. Whether using Ovid's Administration
tools or searching and browsing Ovid content, administrators can now log in
to one site and navigate freely through all of the company's resources.
Support for RefWorks
Ovid customers, through the Direct Export feature, can now use RefWorks to
format bibliographies and manuscripts. According to the announcement, searching
personal bibliographic databases created using RefWorks is fast and easy. RefWorks
automatically creates author, descriptor, and periodical indexes when importing
so users can just click on the word to retrieve the information.
Training Resources
Ovid's two new quick reference cards are designed as training resources for
both information professionals and end users. The Basic version covers the
fundamentals of searching and offers everything users need to know to get started,
including icon descriptions and searching tips. The Advanced version covers
features and search techniques for the experienced user, including how to maximize
and refine results.
