Swets Blackwell has announced the completion of an agreement with Institute
of Physics Publishing (IoPP) to distribute Axiom, IoPP's Web-based research
service featuring the INSPEC, Compendex, and Derwent World Patents Index
databases. Swets Blackwell recently negotiated anagreement for Axiom on
behalf of a Swedish consortium, covering access across eight organizations.
The Institute of Physics is an international learned society and professional
body for the advancement and dissemination of pure and applied physics,
as well as the promotion of physics education. Swets Blackwell is a world
leader in electronic publishing with all IoPP journals online via the Internet
weeks before print publication.
"We at Institute of Physics Publishing are very pleased to have concluded
this agreement with Swets Blackwell. We see them as ideal partners in enabling
us to penetrate those markets that we find difficult to reach," said Terry
Hulbert, business development manager at IoPP. "They have a fine network
of sales staff and a solid history in relationships of this kind."
Yvonne Campfens, director of publisher relations and marketing at Swets
Blackwell, said: "We are pleased to have been able to develop our relationship
with IoPP in this way. The addition of Axiom to the Swets Blackwell portfolio
means that our sales staff have another high-quality service to offer to
our market."
