Arbortext, Inc., a global provider of XML-based multichannel publishing
software, has announced that its upcoming release of Epic Editor version
4.3 will provide significant improvements for designers, developers, and
business users who want to deliver dynamic content while lowering costs.
In addition to several authoring enhancements, Epic Editor 4.3 will contain
new or improved support for XML schemas, thePublishing Pipeline, the XML
User Interface (XUI), XSL-FO, and ActiveX.
Epic Editor 4.3 will include a simplified toolbar; real-time spelling
check; and the Publishing Pipeline, which reportedly provides the developer
with an easier, faster way to configure, customize, and extend publishing
processes. XUI lets developers easily create dynamic dialog boxes that
respond to changing conditions and prompt for appropriate information based
on those changes. Support for ActiveX enables Epic Editor to incorporate
other applications to extend its capabilities. According to the announcement,
this provides easier configuration and customization for developers and
business users as they work with MathML (for equations), SVG (Scalable
Vector Graphics), and forms created in Visual Basic.
Epic Editor 4.3 will ship this summer. All Arbortext customers under
maintenance are eligible to receive the Epic Editor 4.3 upgrade (which
will be automatically sent to them) at no charge.
