Music anywhere and everywhere — Accessing your favorite songs through the Web has never been easier

INTERNET INSIGHTS column relates that there are several options for listening to music while away from home on vacation without having to lug around CDs or expensive shortwave radios, and an alternative is to buy a portable MP3 player. Describes Net radios from either radio stations that "Netcast" the programs or virtual Internet "radio stations" that provide music, such as Imagine Radio, a service that offers a number of channels along with customization features. Says that MP3.com offered a service called Beam-it, but that is currently unavailable since a U.S. District Court sided with the record labels and MP3.com removed the songs that were deemed to be copyright infringing. Notes that there are alternatives that are copyright-compliant such as making MP3 files from audio CDs. Advises that while the court is in session to enjoy a legitimately posted song collection from the Web. Includes two screen displays.
