LexisNexis has announced that it has introduced a series of online
treatise and data enhancements at http://www.lexis.com
to improve ease of use and navigation. The company also announced that
it has added five practice-area-specific sections to lexisONE, its Web-based
resource for solo and small-firm attorneys.
Treatise, Data Improvements
According to the announcement, the enhanced navigational tools make
it easier to search Matthew Bender treatises, CCH materials, and primary-source
materials such as state statutes and regulations.
"LexisNexis offers the legal professional an unparalleled portfolio
of analytical content resources that deliver powerful insights to difficult
legal questions," said Lou Andreozzi, president and CEO of LexisNexis North
American Legal Markets. "Our enhanced navigational tools allow our customers
to use authoritative content that is powered by new, easy-to-use technology
features that make searching and navigating complex material quicker, easier,
and more productive."
An enhanced table of contents combines the search and table of contents
view onto a single page. Users can search selected portions of the enhanced
table of contents to view, search, or print. In addition, customers can
search from any point of the enhanced table of contents or browse to all
levels of the document, making a seamless transition from print to online.
The expandable and collapsible table of contents links to documents and
subdocuments and provides a direct link back to the table of contents from
the document. A list of proper citations is displayed so users can quickly
pinpoint or cite their location within a specific document.
The explore feature allows a user to navigate through the segments of
each document, such as a case summary, disposition, opinion, or footnote.
The user can link to specific sections or subsections within applicable
enhanced navigation sources. This includes authoritative analytical materials
such as Matthew Bender treatises, CCH materials, and state statutes and
regulations.
The floating cite assistant allows a user to quickly pinpoint cite information,
thereby eliminating unnecessary scrolling within a document. The user simply
rests the cursor anywhere in the text of the document and a pop-up box
displays after a few seconds to indicate the pinpoint cite. Enhanced footnote
linking allows single-click access to the text of an online footnote. Clicking
on a footnote reference link within the document navigates the user to
the text of the footnote. Clicking on an up-arrow link from the footnote
transfers the user back to the footnote reference in the document.
