Follett Software Co., a provider of K-12 library automation software,
and MITINET/marc have announced plans to integrate MITINET/marc's MARC
Magician library record cleanup into Follett's Catalog Plus v5.0, which
is to be released early this year. According to the announcement, Follett
Software is the only K-12 vendor to feature seamless integration between
MARC Magician and its library automation software.
With this integration, library media specialists will be able to clean
up MARC (Machine Readable Catalog) bibliographic records more easily by
seamlessly transferring them between their Catalog Plus database and MARC
Magician's automated record cleanup application. Users need to install
both MARC Magician and Catalog Plus v5.0 to enable the integration to occur.
"Now even novice catalogers will be able to clean up and maintain their
bibliographic records through this seamless integration," said Tom Schenck,
president of Follett Software. "Once the records are cleaned up, students
and patrons will be able to find what they're looking for faster and easier,
and libraries can be sure they're offering the best access to resources."
According to the announcement, Catalog Plus for Windows is the top-rated
library automation cataloging solution that helps library media specialists
create and maintain premium MARC 21 records. With practical, built-in cataloging
tools, it helps create and maintain databases of the highest quality, giving
students quick and safe access to the best possible resources.
The MARC Magician Windows-based MARC record cleanup software maximizes
patron or student search results by combining automatic MARC record repair,
comprehensive global editing, and error checking without having to memorize
MARC codes and rules. Designed to clean up individual records or entire
MARC 21 databases, MARC Magician makes time-consuming record cleanup an
easy, automatic process.
