| "Open an eBook ... Discover New Worlds of Reading" is the name of a
campaign announced by the Open eBook Forum (OeBF)that hopes to promote
the use of e-books for literacy, accessibility, and enhanced reading experiences.
Joining in this campaign are leading e-book technology vendors, publishers,
authors, libraries, and educators. Key sponsors include Adobe Systems,
Inc., InterTrust Technologies Corp., and Microsoft Corp.
The campaign's programs include new initiatives launched by the OeBF
Education and Business Development committees, the announcement of a free
e-bookstore for young readers, and many ongoing e-book programs promoted
by OeBF members. The campaign will officially launch this month.
"The Open an eBook campaign is a multiyear education effort sponsored
by the OeBF to promote the value of e-books to readers worldwide," said
OeBF president Steve Potash. "One of the goals of the project is to provide
publishers, teachers, and libraries around the world the tools they need
to permit readers to 'Open an eBook' and see how easy it is to enjoy the
benefits."

will be the main vehicle for distribution of information about the campaign.
