Ipedo, XMLCities Team Up on Content Publishing Solution

Ipedo, Inc., a provider of software products that manage and deliver dynamic content over the Internet, and XMLCities, Inc. (http://www.xmlcities.com), a provider of XML-conversion tools, have announced a partnership to market and promote a combined solution for media-independent content publishing. According to the announcement, by joining forces, Ipedo and XMLCities will be able to offer content publishers a powerful XML infrastructure they can use to quickly and easily convert and create large volumes of XML content while effectively managing it—a critical requirement for content-driven applications.

The joint Ipedo/XMLCities offering includes XMLCapture Suite, a set of applications for efficient, high-volume conversion of Adobe PDF and paper documents into XML from user-specified DTDs, and the Ipedo XML Database, a platform that enterprises can use to integrate, manage, and deliver XML content to their Web, portal, wireless, and other large-scale content-management applications. According to the announcement, as companies in all industries begin to realize the benefits of XML as a way to create content once and reuse it across multiple applications, they need a way to convert their existing content assets into XML and to manage and deliver content to the application infrastructure. Together, Ipedo XML Database and XMLCapture Suite provide that solution.

XMLCapture Suite converts both existing Adobe PDF and paper documents into XML through an intuitive WYSIWYG interface. Especially designed for converting complex, less-structured legacy content, XMLCapture supports batch-processing capabilities for high-volume conversion projects. According to the announcement, the intuitive design leverages artificial intelligence to speed processing, improve conversion accuracy, and simplify the process for nontechnical users. XMLCapture also significantly improves the XML tagging process through a unique rules-based auto-tagging feature that can complete up to 98 percent of the XML-creation process.

The Ipedo XML Database is a new type of database server that stores XML data natively in its hierarchical document form. It allows applications to aggregate and organize large amounts of XML content and to assemble and deliver that content rapidly. Built-in XSL transformations instantly provide tailored views of XML content. According to the announcement, Ipedo's high-speed architecture uses sophisticated indexing and memory-management techniques to power the most demanding environments, including large Web infrastructures, wireless portals, business-to-business exchanges, and next-generation Web services.
