Follett Software Co. has announced the release of its new v4.2 software
for Windows and Macintosh. The release also includes new features that
ease cataloging and reporting requirements for library staff.
The software updated in the v4.2 release includes the following:
-
Circulation Plus—Automates many tasks library staff members perform routinely—
check-in/check-out, overdue notices, fine calculation, holds, renewals,
inventory—and makes statistical information readily available through an
assortment of reports
-
Catalog Plus—Helps students find the best information with powerful searching
options, and simplifies cataloging with extensive built-in aids. Users
can search with traditional text-based searching and younger students can
search with colorful, visual icons.
-
WebCollection Plus—Lets students search library collections in English
or French from any location, 24 hours a day via the Internet or an intranet.
Libraries can install it on one server for access from multiple workstations
-
Union Catalog Plus—Puts more information within reach by enabling students
to access several collections from one location in a single search—ideal
for districts. It also enables districts to share MARC records among schools.
-
Alliance Plus Online—Eases cataloging by offering 24-hour access to more
than 3.8 million high-quality MARC records from the Internet. Records are
updated weekly.
“Our v4.2 release represents the beginning of a much broader vision, which
will help educators achieve standards and ensure that students excel in
a learning environment much different than years past,” said Tom Schenck,
president of Follett Software Co. “The new version is the first library
automation software to integrate technology such as one-stop searching
and e-books, helping us continue to deliver the most powerful products
to K-12 educators.”
