Inmagic, Inc., a developer of library automation
and information retrieval software for the Web, intranets, CD-ROM, and
LANs, has announced the release of DB/Text for Libraries, an application
for its DB/TextWorks information management software. Integrated e-mail,
Web OPAC forms, and script buttons to save keystrokes are among the significant
new features designed to streamline the management of information in corporate
information centers.
According to the company, these prominent DB/Text for Libraries
features will assist corporate information managers in simplifying both
access to resources and communication regarding resources:
Integrated e-mail—Reports can be sent as e-mail to one or more people,
right from DB/TextWorks. According to the company, this feature is particularly
useful for overdue notices, routing lists, or notification of changes/updates
in the database.
Forms and screens are included for use with DB/Text WebPublisher,
Inmagic’s Web publishing software. A ready-designed OPAC layout is included,
for example, for easy mounting of the catalog on an intranet or on the
Web.
Script buttons automate frequently performed functions. The flexibility
inherent in scripting enables one-button check-in, URL launching, and a
host of other actions. Scripts are provided or may be created by the user
with JavaScript or VBScript.
