Inxight Software, Inc., a provider of information access and content-analysis
software solutions, has announced the release of Table Lens Server, a Java
version of its Table Lens technology that offers graphical data analysis.
Table Lens Server enables Web site builders to deploy Table Lens technology
on their Internet, intranet, and extranet Web sites, allowing visitors
to interact with published data. According to the announcement, data-analysis
users can easily employ Table Lens without the need for special training.
"In the past, Web sites have been stuck with static HTML tables and
charts," said Ramana Rao, Inxight's chief technology officer and vice president
of visualization products. "Table Lens enables users to interact visually
with their data and immediately see patterns and relationships. When Web
site visitors can see and go to what they want quickly, they will take
the next step, whether it's to buy, read, or invest."
According to the company, Table Lens is a technique for visualizing
and making sense of large tables. This technology allows users to navigate
around large data tables and rapidly identify and explore relevant features
and relationships. Anyone with large data sets can use Table Lens to observe
trends and patterns they would otherwise not know about. For example, sales
and marketing organizations can identify promising prospects or analyze
survey data, pharmaceutical researchers can evaluate new drug opportunities
or explore data from clinical trials, and financial analysts can compare
stocks or mutual funds.
The Java API allows for the deployment of Table Lens applets to Internet,
intranet, and extranet Web sites; Web applications; and hosted services.
The product provides for Java 1.1 and 1.2 support on multiple platforms,
including Windows NT/95/98/2000, Solaris, and Linux. It offers the ability
to link table values to other documents through hyperlink (URL) support.
Table Lens is also available as a software development toolkit for ActiveX
and Java.
