Follett Software Co. has announced the expanded functionality of its
WebCollection Plus online library collection access software, making it
available for Novell NetWare v5.1 users. WebCollection Plus allows students,
staff, parents, and others to search library collections from any location,
24 hours a day, by making the collection accessible through the school's
intranet, or by accessing it from outside the school via the Internet.
"We are especially excited about bringing WebCollection Plus' expanded
searching capabilities into a greater number
of schools by supporting NetWare v5.1 servers," said Tom Schenck, Follett
Software president. "Now more students will have access to the best information,
even when they're not in school. And parents will have the opportunity
to interact in their children's continuous pursuit of information."
According to the announcement, WebCollection Plus brings students powerful
searching by title, author, subject, keyword, call number, series, and
Boolean terms, and helps students do the following:
-
Submit interlibrary loan and hold requests 24 hours a day
-
Check item availability
-
Create custom bibliographies by placing selections in a "Bookbag" for future
access
-
Search for Accelerated Reader, Reading Counts!, and Lexile Measure titles
-
View library hours, check-out policies, library and school event information,
and more
-
Link to cross-references and related Web sites or other electronic resources
Future release plans include Novell NetWare v5.1 server support for WebCollectionPlus
English/Spanish and WebCollection Plus English/French.
