Website Pros, Inc., a provider of Web site design and support services,
has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire substantially the
assets of NetObjects, Inc. NetObjects will sell NetObjects Fusion, NetObjects
Matrix, and GoBizGo to Website Pros. Along with the newsgroupsand other
services, Website Pros will assume management of the http://www.netobjects.com
site in the U.S., Germany, and the U.K. Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com),
the developer of ColdFusion, Dreamweaver, HomeSite, and other Web design
and development products, has purchased the NetObjects portfolio of patents.
Since 1995, over 5 million Web sites have been built using NetObjects'
products and services. More than 10 million copies of NetObjects Fusion
have been bundled by the industry's major brands, including Dell, Deutsche
Telekom, EarthLink, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM. After 2 years of development,
NetObjects recently launched NetObjects Matrix, a next-generation online
platform for providing Web services to small businesses through distribution
partners.
"Website Pros has been in a unique position to evaluate Web site building
platforms," said David Brown, Website Pros' president and CEO. "As we worked
with our 26 enterprise partners to help them evaluate and offer technology
solutions, it became clear that NetObjects had the only platform powerful
enough to meet the demands of our partners and their small-business customers
today and well into the future." Website Pros has built more than 40,000
Web sites for small-business customers of key partners such as Dell, Office
Depot, and Verizon.
"Website Pros is now the only company in the market that can deliver
the end-to-end, technology, and services solution our partners need to
tap the growth of the small-business Web services market," said Brown.
"We can now offer Website Pros' award-winning customer care and Web site
design solutions and the NetObjects technology platform in one seamless,
integrated package that helps our partners improve customer satisfaction
and loyalty and fuel revenue growth."
The acquisition, subject to customary closing conditions, has been approved
by the board of directors of both companies and was expected to close by
November 30. Website Pros is working to ensure a smooth transition for
NetObjects Fusion and Matrix customers and partners. More information about
