Informative Graphics Corp. has announced the release of Net-It Central
5.0, the latest version of its intranet document publishing software. Net-It
Central 5.0offers enhanced customization, priority publishing features,
and tighter security. Used by hundreds of companies and government agencies
worldwide—such as ChevronTexaco, SBC, Bank of America, and the United Nations—Net-It
Central provides push-button intranet publishing of many different document
types, including spreadsheets, memos, illustrations, and presentations
(including animations), to any desktop browser without the need to install
client software or plug-ins.
Net-It Central supports Microsoft Office, WordPerfect, Visio, Lotus/IBM,
and MathCAD file formats. The software can be installed, configured, and
deployed in less than a day. Operating in a standard browser and honoring
firewall and encryption security, Net-It Central provides document managers
with an easy out-of-the-box intranet publishing tool, according to the
announcement.
Designated users of desktop applications can publish their native files
to a Net-It Central intranet site with one simple operation. Documents
are delivered for viewing through a thin browser applet, enabling them
to be reviewed regardless of the operating system or whether the corresponding
desktop application is installed.
According to the announcement, Net-It Central 5.0 features the following
additions that were implemented in response to customer feedback:
-
Enhanced template customization features
-
Priority publishing, which allows managers to contribute high-priority
document content immediately, or perform an overall site update on demand
or at scheduled intervals

The ability to set site or document start/expiration dates. Site content
or specific documents can be automatically archived to a specific location
or deleted.
