Wendy Merkley, Project Manager, Rural Information Services Iniative
| |
| Wendy has had 20+ years of experience working as a professional librarian; most of that time has been spent in Alberta working for public libraries. I had the good fortune to be involved in the development of the Chinook Arch Regional Library System, assisting the member libraries in the development of policies and procedures that would be the foundation for the success of Chinook. I also played a leadership role in developing the plans and implementing the technology required to establish a wide area network to link all member libraries to the automated services run from the headquarters building. This achievement laid the groundwork for the implementation of internet services and a host of web services that have followed.
In subsequent positions I have continued to develop my technology and project management skills, assisting in intranet developments, in the implementation of federated searching and electronic resource management systems, and now, working to implement videoconferencing services in public libraries. |
