Merete has a degree in Art History. Since 2007, she has worked at SMK as a researcher and project manager. She has been leading a number of projects concerned with providing open access to the museum's digitized collections, and using digital media to freely share knowledge and resources with fellow institutions as well as users. Among her latest projects is SMK's contribution to the Google Art Project http://www.googleartproject.com/collection/statens-museum-for-kunst/ and the release of a selection of highlights from SMK's collections for free download under a Creative Commons license http://www.smk.dk/en/explore-the-art/the-royal-collections/free-download-of-art-works/
Moreover, she stands behind a pilot initiative that unites Danish art museums in developing a shared mobile platform, inviting users to co-create, share and reuse digitized resources. Merete has presented her work at international conferences such as Museums and the Web, MuseumNext, DISH, J. Boye and Museum Computer Network. She is also a writer and curator with a range of exhibition catalogues, articles, and a book on her publishing list.
