APA expands PsycLIT to cover 111 years

Announces the latest update to PsycLIT CD-ROM from the American Psychological Association will reflect the recent redesign of the PsycINFO database, and will incorporate references from 1967-1973 for the first time. Says several new features are aimed at improving the retrievability of data elements, including incorporating gender, age group, and inpatient/outpatient status in the population field. Adds another of these features identifies geographic location of the research population by country name, and a third provides a new document-type hierarchy that supports using a single field to locate multiple sources including empirical studies, case reports, longitudinal studies, literature reviews, bibliographies, and textbooks.
