The Amazing Internet Challenge: How Leading Projects Use Library Skills to Organize the Web
by Gwen M. Gregory

Presents a favorable review of "The Amazing Internet Challenge: How Leading Projects Use Library Skills to Organize the Web" ($45) edited by Amy Tracy Wells, Susan Calcari, and Travis Koplow, published in 1999 by American Library Association. Says this 279-page book details 12 of the best English-language virtual library projects. Notes that each chapter describes one virtual library and is written by the people who created and maintain it. Adds that four of the projects are from the U.K. and eight are from the U.S; some are subject-specific and many are broad in coverage. Concludes that a wide variety of information specialists will benefit from it.
