Amanda J. Wilson became Director of the National Transportation Library (NTL) on December 11, 2006. In her time at NTL, Ms. Wilson has focused on building collections, increasing awareness of NTL collections and services, and building a national network of transportation libraries. Under her leadership, NTL has engaged in new initiatives in pursuit of these goals, such as becoming the official maintenance body of the Transportation Research Thesaurus, establishing the Transportation Librarians Roundtable (a monthly webconference series for transportation librarians), providing national coordination of projects between and among regional library networks in transportation, joining the Federal Agencies Digitization Guidelines Initiative (www.digitizationguidelines.gov), and becoming part of the Science.gov Alliance. She is also managing the year-long merger of the USDOT Library into the NTL. Before joining the NTL, Wilson served as Metadata Librarian at the Ohio State University. She is a graduate of Emory University and UNC-Chapel Hill, and is currently a doctoral candidate at George Washington University. |
