Jean Hellwege

school librarian
Scott Middle School-Lincoln Public Schools

Jean Hellwege has a passion for empowering and engaging students by collaboratively creating lessons that allow students to choose topics of interest but also requires them to solve a problem by ethically and efficiently using information and technology skills. She is in her 20th year as a school librarian, currently at a middle school in Lincoln but also has been a K-12 school librarian in rural Nebraska towns. She is a huge fan of college wrestling and football (Go Huskers!) and loves to listen to audio books while biking or walking her dog. She was awarded the 2013 American Association of School Librarians Collaborative School Library Award for the Make a Difference research project.
