Deb is the 2013 SLA president and her presidency theme is "Transform Knowledge and Expertise into Strategic Value." She served as a director on the SLA board from 2008-2010. She is also an active member in the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP) and served on the board of directors from 2001-2003. Deb is an award-winning part-time adjunct faculty in the Library Technology program at Diablo Valley College and has also taught for the League of Women Voters, InfoPeople, and UC Berkeley Extension. She is a frequent presenter at SLA conferences, Internet Librarian, and other venues for information professionals. Deb received her MLS from UC Berkeley and has moved forward from there, always leaping off the edge into the next opportunity to leverage and expand on her skills.
Deb is the co-author of The Librarian's Skillbook: 51 Essential Skills for Information Professionals and has written for Information Outlook, the Journal of Digital Asset Management, FUMSI, and Information World Review (IWR) and was the 2009 runner up for the IWR Information Professional of the Year Award.
Her passions are career sustainability and continually expanding her skills and knowledge to push the boundaries of leveraging strategic knowledge.
