Jean Hewlett, Regional Librarian, University of San Francisco

Jean Hewlett is the Regional Librarian at the Santa Rosa Campus of the University of San Francisco. In this incarnation, she manages a small library that serves working adults who have returned to school to complete a BS or earn an MS. Much of her job involves facilitating online communication for a virtual work team that includes 9 people at 5 different locations around the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

On SecondLife, Jean's avatar Riven Homewood is Director of the Steelhead Public Library. This is the town library for a gaslight-era town located in the Pacific Northwest. Besides holding book discussions, storytelling sessions, poetry workshops and September Project events, the Steelhead Public Library recently sponsored two discussions about the ethnography of SecondLife that were led by the editor of American Anthropologist.
