Madeline Barratt, Enfield Library and Museum Service Business Manager, Public Libraries, London Borough of Enfield and London Libraries Consortium

Madeline joined Enfield Libraries in 2006 ago as Deputy Head of the Library and Museum Service with responsibility for library resources including IT. She took Enfield into the London Libraries Consortium (LLC) in 2008. She and her team have driven forward huge changes in IT provision with the aid of the LLC and library systems specialist Axiell, such as automating all backroom procedures. Madeline manages the digital citizenship team, overseeing 400% growth in the use of online resources over the last year. Starting as a Library Assistant and working in Hackney, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, and Enfield, she progressed through the ranks, carrying out jobs from Reference Librarian to Music Librarian and Children’s Librarian. Madeline took Redbridge into LLC as one of the founder members. She’s reputed for the speed at which she works and driving projects through adversity. An avid reader, but techie as well, Madeline loves gadgets and is the fixer for all family PCs, iPods etc. She never likes to stand still and actively embraces change, learning to scuba dive at the age of 50. Madeline presents regularly to small groups and has experience in speaking in public forums and doing Q&A on libraries, some of it quite controversial
