Dr. Deb Wallace, Managing Director, Baker Library Services, Knowledge & Library services, Harvard Business School

Deb has held a variety of positions in the private and public sectors, but the central theme in all her work has been building capabilities and putting them to work.

She is currently the Managing Director, Baker Library Services at Harvard Business School in Boston (www.hbs.edu). In this role she is responsible for leveraging the world of business information to create an “infostructure” that supports the complex teaching, learning, and research environment at HBS.

She is also a partner in TKG Consulting, www.tkgconsult.com, a group of practitioners who work with organizations to unlock and surface their knowledge and information in usable, practical ways. Her consulting practice has broadened her understanding of the complex challenges facing organizations today, based on engagements with The World Bank, RAND Corporation, the UN, Sun Life, Canada Health Info Way, and many others.

Deb teaches an online course for San Jose State’s SLIS on curriculum design and implementation for information professionals that explores the central role information plays in the process of learning and the value information professionals bring to enhancing student achievement through collaborative course development with faculty.

Deb holds a Bachelor of Science from Moorhead State University, a Masters of Education from the University of Manitoba, and a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.

She is an avid reader and lapsed knitter who is usually up for a challenge. To celebrate a friend’s survival of breast cancer and to mark a milestone birthday, Deb climbed Kilimanjaro – an accomplishment that has shaped how she embraces life-long learning and the importance of exercising critical thinking!
